Pongamia pinnata
Pongamia pinnata is a species of tree native to eastern and tropical Asia, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.
It reaches up to 25 m in height.
It has medicinal properties.
The leaves are alternate and short, rounded at the base, oblong along their entire length, pointed at the tip, and without serrations on the edges. When young, they are a soft, glossy burgundy color, maturing as the season progresses to a glossy, dark green color with visible veins underneath.
The flowers are borne in small clusters of white, purple, and pink flowers. The raceme-like inflorescences contain two to four flowers, which are strongly fragrant and reach a length of 15–18 mm.
The brown seed pods appear immediately after flowering. They are thick-walled, smooth, slightly flattened, and elliptical. They contain one or two brownish-red, bean-like seeds.
