Acacia senegal is a small, thorny, deciduous tree native to semi-arid regions of sub-Saharan Africa.

It reaches approximately 5-12 meters in height.

The tree is of great economic importance due to the gum arabic it produces, which is used as a food additive and cosmetic.

The leaves are dark green, bipinnate.

The flowers are small, whitish or yellow, blooming in the leaf axils, gathered in cylindrical spikes.

The pod is flattened, almost straight, with a short, curved beak at the end.
