Aesculus hippocastanum
Aesculus hippocastanum is a large deciduous tree native to the Balkan Peninsula.
It reaches 20-30 meters in height.
The leaves are large, lanceolate or obovate, consisting of 5-7 leaflets.
The flowers are arranged in impressive, erect panicles. They have white petals with characteristic yellow or red spots at the base.
The fruit are spiny capsules containing shiny, brown seeds called chestnuts.
Aesculus hippocastanum requires fertile, well-drained soil and prefers a sunny location.
It is completely frost-hardy.
Every order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required.
The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.
Seed Handling Instructions:
Choose a sunny or partially shaded location, sheltered from strong winds, with fertile, well-drained, and moist soil.
You can sow the chestnut tree directly into the ground in autumn or prepare it for spring sowing by stratifying it.
Plant the chestnut tree about 4-5 cm deep, lightly covering it with soil.
Keep the soil moist, but avoid overwatering.
THE SEEDS ARE INTENDED FOR SOWING ONLY!
