Pistacia vera

Pistacia vera is a species of pistachio belonging to the cashew family. It is native to the border of Central Asia and Asia Minor.

It grows to 5-7 m tall.

The leaves are pinnate, composed of 1-5 ovate leaflets. They turn reddish-yellow in autumn.

The flowers are red, clustered in a short panicle.

The fruit is an oval, red, and fleshy drupe, similar to an olive, known colloquially as a pistachio nut or pistachio.

The kernel is yellowish to greenish in color.
