Eucalyptus camaldulensis River gum is a large, spreading, perennial tree that grows along watercourses throughout most of mainland Australia. It grows up to 30 meters tall. Young leaves are lanceolate, 80–180 mm long. Mature leaves are lanceolate or recurved, with the same dull green or gray-green color on both sides, and 50–300 mm long. The flowers are small and white. The flower buds are arranged in groups of seven, nine, or eleven. The mature buds are oval and range in color from green to creamy yellow. The fruit is a woody, hemispherical capsule.
