Ficus benghalensis, also known as the banyan, is a species of plant in the mulberry family. It is native to India and Pakistan.

In its natural habitat, the fig tree can grow up to 20 meters tall.

In our climate, it makes an interesting houseplant, bringing a touch of the exotic to any home.

The leaves are large and glossy, brown when young.

The fruits are round, red figs, produced in pairs.
