Parkinsonia anculeata is a thorny tree in the Fabaceae family, native to the southwestern United States and Mexico. It is common in many locations around the globe.

It grows up to 8 meters tall.

The leaves are small, arranged in two rows on either side of a strongly flattened petiole.

The flowers are fragrant, yellow, with orange spots on the upper petal of the corolla, clustered in inflorescences of several.

The fruit is a pod usually containing 2-3 seeds.
