Taxus baccata

Taxus baccata is an evergreen coniferous tree or large shrub. It is native to Europe, western Asia, and northern Africa. It typically grows up to 15 meters tall as a tree and 3-4 meters as a shrub.

The needles are alternate, linear, saber-shaped, flattened, with a gently pointed tip, slightly curved, non-prickly, soft, and borne on a short, thin petiole. The upper side is dark green and glossy, while the underside is much lighter and matte.

The flowers are small, yellow-green, and develop in the leaf axils at the tips of the previous year's growth.

The fruit is a bright red, fleshy berry that appears from September to October.

Taxus baccata grows best in fertile, well-drained, slightly moist, slightly acidic to neutral soil. It prefers a partially shaded location, but is very versatile and tolerates both full sun and deep shade.

It is completely frost-resistant.

Every order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required.

The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.

Seed Handling Instructions:

For the first 6 months, store the seeds in an environment with variable temperatures – alternating one day at 15-20°C and the next at 3°C. Then, for the next 3 months, store them at a constant, cool temperature of around 3°C.

Once the entire process is complete, the seeds can be sown in early spring.

Sow the seeds into the boxes and then cover them with glass or plastic.

Place the boxes in a slightly shaded location, keeping the soil moist and aerating them regularly. The optimal temperature is 20-25°C.
