Pinus aristata

Pinus aristata is a long-lived tree native to western North America.

It typically reaches 2–6 meters in height, although it can grow higher in the wild.

The needles are dark green to bluish-green, very short.

A distinctive feature is the white resin dots on the needles.

The needles remain on the tree for an exceptionally long time, up to 10–17 years.

The cones are cylindrical-ovate, ranging in color from dark purple to brown.

The distinguishing feature is the stiff, sharp "spines" (spikes) on each cone scale, which give the pine its name.

The bristlecone pine grows well in dry, well-drained, sandy, or rocky soils. It prefers a sunny location.

Each order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required.

The seeds we offer are high-quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.

Seed Handling Instructions:

Seeds require stratification. To stratify,

soak the seeds in room-temperature water for 24 to 48 hours, then

place them in moist sand and refrigerate for approximately 30 days.

Spring is the best time to sow in pots or in the ground.

The soil should be well-drained and slightly acidic. Sow the seeds approximately 0.5–1 cm deep. Provide a warm and bright location.

Keep the soil constantly moist, but not soggy. A good way to do this is to cover the pot with plastic wrap or glass, which will create a greenhouse effect.

SEEDS ARE INTENDED FOR SOWING ONLY!
