Areca catechu
Areca catechu is a species of palm that grows in much of the tropical Pacific, Asia, and parts of East Africa.
It reaches up to 20 meters in height.
It has pinnate leaves with numerous leaflets.
This plant is excellent for a variety of spaces, especially large and bright ones.
The fruit is a red or orange, inedible, fibrous berry.
Unfortunately, it does not flower indoors – very high soil temperatures and high, constant air humidity are required to stimulate the plant to flower.
Areca catechu requires fertile soil and relatively high humidity in both the soil and the air.
It prefers well-lit locations, but the plant should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
