Laurus nobilis
Laurus nobilis is an evergreen shrub belonging to the laurel family, native to the Mediterranean region. In our climate, it grows to a small height.
The plant has medicinal properties! Among other things, it can treat the upper digestive system and relieve pain during arthritis.
The flowers are yellow, clustered in inflorescences. It blooms profusely in late March and early April.
The leaves are dark green, lacentate, shiny, and leathery, up to 10 cm long. When crushed, they release a characteristic sweet fragrance.
The fruit is round, dark blue-black berries. They ripen in late September and early November.
Laurus nobilis requires slightly acidic soil and prefers a sunny or partly sunny location.
