Styrax obassia

Styrax obassia is a small tree native to China and Japan. It grows up to 7 meters tall.

The plant can be planted as a solitary specimen or as a flowering hedge!

The flowers are white, fragrant, and gathered in hanging clusters up to 20 cm long. Blooming begins in late May and early July.

The plant is a nectar-producing plant!

The fruit is a white, spherical drupe with a single, aquamarine seed.

The elliptical, dark green, glossy leaves, up to 15 cm long, turn a beautiful yellow in autumn.

Styrax obassia requires humus-rich, clay-sandy, and moist soil. It prefers sunny, partly sunny, or shaded, sheltered locations. Frost-hardy to -26°C (-4°F).

Each order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required.

The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.

Seed Handling Instructions:

Soak the seeds for 24 hours, then warm and cold stratify.

First, warm stratify at approximately 20-25°C for 4 months, followed by cold stratification at approximately 1-5°C for another 4 months.

After this process, sow the seeds approximately 2.5 cm deep.

Provide a sunny location sheltered from the wind. The soil should be fertile, humus-rich, and slightly acidic.

Ensure constant moisture, but avoid overwatering.

SEEDS ARE INTENDED FOR SOWING ONLY!
