Liriodendron tulipifera
Liriodendron tulipifera is a stately tree native to southeastern North America. It grows to a height of 16-18 meters.
The plant is considered one of the most beautiful ornamental trees in the world!
The cup-shaped flowers, greenish-yellow with orange spots, resemble tulips and begin blooming in late June and early July. The plant is a melliferous plant!
The fruit, winged nuts up to 10 cm long, composed of brownish samaras, ripens in October or November.
The leaves are large, green, lobed, and glossy, turning yellow and orange in autumn.
Liriodendron tulipifera requires fertile, humus-rich, and fresh soil. It prefers sunny, sheltered locations. It is completely frost-hardy.
