Chaenomeles japonica
Chaenomeles japonica is, as its name suggests, a shrub native to Japan. It grows to 1-2 meters tall.
The plant has medicinal properties! The fruits contain valuable organic acids, flavonoids, pectins, phenols, and anthocyanins.
The flowers are single, red, and bloom profusely. Blooming begins at the turn of March and May.
The plant is a nectar-bearing plant!
The edible, spherical, yellow fruits ripen in autumn. They are suitable for making juices, liqueurs, marmalades, preserves, and jellies.
The leaves are small, up to 5 cm long, ovate, and green.
The plant can be planted as a solitary accent in a lawn or in groups; it makes an informal hedge!
Chaenomeles japonica has no special soil requirements. It prefers sunny or partly sunny locations. It is frost and drought resistant.
Every order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required.
The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.
Seed Handling Instructions:
Seeds should be stratified – placed in a cool, humid place, preferably in the refrigerator, for several weeks to two months. After this period, they can be sown directly into the ground, 2-3 cm deep, or into pots. Place the seeds in well-drained, humus-rich soil in a sunny or partially shaded location.
Keep the soil slightly moist and ensure good drainage.
SEEDS ARE INTENDED FOR SOWING ONLY!
