Erythrina indica is a striking, medium-sized deciduous tree. It reaches approximately 20 meters in height.

The flowers are red, clustered in panicles up to 20 cm long.

The leaves are light green, heart-shaped, and glossy.

The fruit is a seed pod up to 40 cm long.

Erythrina indica requires moderately fertile, well-drained, and moderately moist soil. It prefers a sunny location.
