Prunus spinosa

Prunus spinosa is a densely branched, thorny fruit shrub.

It reaches up to 3 meters in height, with branches spreading laterally and upwards.

Prunus spinosa blooms profusely, with white flowers appearing before the leaves unfold and attracting bees and insects.

The leaves of this plum variety are small, oval, and have slightly serrated edges.

Prunus spinosa bears fruit from October to December, producing spherical drupes with dark blue skin that resemble blueberries. The fruit is edible but has a sour taste. Drinking sloe juice is recommended to support the immune system.

Prunus spinosa requires soil with plenty of calcium. It prefers sunny and warm locations, but also grows in partial shade. It is fully frost-hardy.

Each order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required.

The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.

Seed Handling Instructions:

Store seeds in the refrigerator or in a cool room over winter to ensure the necessary cold stratification period.

After the stratification period, it is best to sow the seeds in spring in well-drained soil, in a cold frame, or in pots indoors at any time.

Sow the seeds approximately 2-3 cm deep.

Keep the soil moist, but not wet.
