Liquidambar styraciflua
Liquidambar styraciflua is an ornamental tree native to North America. It grows to a height of 8-12 meters.
The balsamic resin of the sweetgum is used in the food and cosmetic industries, and in medicine as an expectorant and antibacterial agent!
The green, palmately lobed leaves, up to 20 cm wide, are glossy and turn orange, yellow, and red in autumn.
The yellowish-greenish flowers, arranged in clusters, are dioecious and bloom in May.
The brown, spiky fruit ripens in October and persists on the tree well into the winter.
Liquidambar styraciflua requires well-drained, fertile, and humus-rich soil. It prefers sunny, sheltered locations. Frost-hardy to -26°C (-7°F).
Each order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required.
The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.
Seed Handling Instructions:
Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours, then sow them in moist potting soil in spring, lightly covering them. It's a good idea to cover the seed container with plastic wrap to maintain humidity, but remove the plastic wrap for a few hours every 2-3 days.
Provide a warm, sunny location.
SEEDS ARE INTENDED FOR SOWING ONLY!
