Oix lacryma-jobi is an annual grass native to southern Asia.

It grows up to 60 cm tall.

The leaves are saber-shaped, folded in half, and hang downward.

In summer, the plants produce pendulous paniculate inflorescences composed of numerous small yellow flowers.

The fruit is a white or light yellow caryopsis without a seed coat, and is ovoid or elliptical.
