Catalpa bignonioides
Catalpa bignonioides is a tree native to the United States. It grows up to 10 meters tall, with a regular, low crown.
The white, purple-flecked flowers, 5 cm in diameter, are gathered in multiple-flowered panicles and begin blooming in late June and early July.
The large, heart-shaped leaves, up to 25 cm long, are a nectar-bearing plant.
The catalpa is a melliferous plant. The oils it contains repel mosquitoes.
The fruit, a capsule, ranges from 20 to 40 cm long and remains on the tree throughout the winter until spring.
It prefers a sunny location. It grows best in fertile, well-drained soil.
Every order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, as well as a plant passport, if required.
The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.
Seed Handling Instructions:
Keep seeds in a cool place throughout the winter, such as the refrigerator. In spring, sow seeds in containers filled with a mixture of all-purpose soil and sand. Keep the soil moderately moist throughout the growing season. For best results, sow seeds in a greenhouse or greenhouse. When the young seedlings are strong enough, transplant them into the ground.
