Fagus sylvatica
Fagus sylvatica is a species of tree belonging to the beech family. It is native to Central and Western Europe.
It reaches up to 30-40 meters in height.
The fruit is a woody capsule called a beechnut. When ripe, it opens with four lobes, releasing one or two triangular, brownish nuts.
The leaves are helically arranged, ovate or elliptical, with entire margins or wavy-toothed. They are dark green and glossy above, light and matte below. They turn rusty in autumn.
The male flowers are clustered in clusters hanging on long rachis. They consist of 10-15 stamens and a short, reddish-brown, tubular perianth. The female flowers are clustered in pairs, surrounded by a four-lobed sheath that becomes woody as they mature, forming a cup.
Each order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required.
The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.
Seed Handling Guide:
Seeds can be stratified directly in the ground in autumn, or artificially stratified for sowing in spring. For the latter option, soak the seeds for 1-2 days before sowing, then mix them with slightly damp sand and store at a low temperature of 3-6°C.
After sowing, ensure the soil is moist and the temperature is appropriate.
SEEDS ARE INTENDED FOR SOWING ONLY!
