Pinus armandii
Pinus armandii, often referred to as the "Chinese white pine," is a striking conifer native to Asia.
It reaches heights of up to 20–30 meters.
The crown is initially conical, becoming wider, looser, and spreading with age, with horizontally growing branches.
The bark is thin and smooth on young branches, becoming dark brown with a tinge of red and slightly fissured with age.
The needles, arranged in bunches, are very long, thin, light green, and often pendulous, giving the tree a "weeping" appearance.
The cones are highly ornamental, large, ovoid, and pendulous. Initially green, they turn light brown with age.
Pinus armandii is undemanding, tolerating dry, sandy, and moist soils, but grows best in well-drained, slightly acidic or neutral soils.
Prefers a sunny or semi-sunny position.
