Liriodendron chinense
Liriodendron chinense is a rare, large deciduous tree native to central and southern China.
It reaches up to 15–25 m in height, but in cultivation it is often smaller, rarely exceeding 10 m.
It forms a regular, broadly oval crown. The leaves are large, with a characteristic, lyrical shape, and are truncated at the top.
In spring, it produces magnificent, greenish-yellow, tulip-like flowers, approximately 4 cm long. They often have a broad orange stripe inside.
Liriodendron chinense requires fertile, humus-rich soil.
It prefers a sunny location.
