Prunus mahaleb
Prunus mahaleb is a tree or shrub with a broad crown. It is native to southern and central Europe, Asia Minor, the Caucasus, and northwest Africa. It reaches 7-12 meters in height.
The leaves are glossy, ovate, dark green, turning yellow in autumn.
The flowers are white, gathered in loose corymbs, with an intense, sweet, almond-like fragrance. It blooms in May.
The fruits are small, black drupes, approximately 0.5-1 cm in diameter.
Prunus mahaleb has low soil requirements, growing well in well-drained, slightly alkaline, and even poor and dry soils. It prefers sunny or partially shaded locations.
It is completely frost-hardy.
Every order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required. The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurserymen and amateurs.
Seed Handling Instructions:
To sow the seeds, first stratify them by chilling them in moist sand or in the refrigerator for 90-120 days. Then, in spring, sow the seeds approximately 1 cm deep in moist, well-drained soil in pots or in the ground, and keep them moist.
Provide a sunny location.
