Celiac grass is a species of grass native to southern Asia and much of Africa.

It grows from 20 to 120 cm tall.

The leaves are linear, with green or blue-green blades, slightly hairy, usually flattened, and have a sharp tip.

The mature flowers contain a small number of seeds.

The flower head is cylindrical, erect, dense, and spiny, ranging in color from straw yellow to straw purple.

Celiac grass grows in all soil types, but primarily in sandy soils and other well-drained soil types.
