Jatropha podagrica

Jatropha podagrica

Jatropha podagrica is an exotic succulent native to Central America, distinguished by its bulging, bottle-shaped trunk that stores water.

It reaches up to 2 meters in height.

The leaves are large, dark green, disc-shaped or heart-shaped, slightly grayish underneath, and borne on long petioles.

The flowers are small, gathered in paniculate inflorescences, intensely bright red or orange, and can bloom for many months.

Jatropha podagrica grows best in well-drained, light soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH.

It prefers a sunny location.
