Prunus amygdalus

Prunus amygdalus is a shrub or small tree native to southwestern Asia.

It grows up to 10 m tall.

The leaves are lanceolate with serrated edges. Seasonal.

The flowers open before the leaves emerge. They are white or pink.

The fruit is an oblong, flattened drupe, up to 6 cm long, and greenish in color. Young fruits are edible.

The shelled seeds are commercially known as almonds.
