Berberis vulgaris
Berberis vulgaris is a species of shrub belonging to the barberry family. It grows wild in Europe.
It grows up to 3 meters tall.
Fragrant, yellow flowers, gathered in hanging clusters up to 5 cm long.
The leaves are small, green, slightly spiky-toothed, and obovate.
The fruit is a multi-seeded, hard, ovoid-oblong, shiny red berry with a tart flavor.
It has medicinal properties and is used to make infusions, jams, and liqueurs.
Berberis vulgaris has no soil requirements. It prefers sunny or partly sunny locations. It is frost-resistant.
Every order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required. The seeds we offer are high-quality and designed for both nurserymen and amateurs.
Seed Handling Instructions:
Seeds require stratification. Soak them for approximately 24 hours, then mix them with sand or peat and store at a temperature below 6°C (41°F) for several months.
In spring, sow the seeds in containers with well-drained soil.
Keep the soil moist and provide the plant with a sunny or partially shaded location.
Once the seedlings have rooted and the first leaves have appeared, transplant them to larger containers.
