Passiflora edulis
Passiflora edulis is a species of plant in the passionflower family. It is native to South America.
It grows up to 10 m long.
The leaves are alternate, three-lobed, and 13 cm wide.
The most valuable ornamental feature of passionflower is its large flowers. They consist of 10 white or white-green petals surrounding a ring of purple-white stamen filaments. At the center of the flower are large, light green stamens and pistils.
After a long, hot summer, passionflower produces yellow or purple fruits. These are commonly called passionfruit, are ovoid in shape, and reach a length of 5 cm.
