Catharanthus roseus
Catharanthus roseus is an evergreen shrub native to Madagascar.
It grows up to 80 centimeters tall.
Leaves are single, elliptical, and glossy.
The plant is used both as an ornamental and medicinally.
Flowers are 5-petalled and come in various shades of pink or white. It blooms throughout the summer. The flowers are pollinated by insects, but can also self-pollinate. They fall from the plant before wilting.
The fruits are green and hidden beneath the leaves. They consist of two narrow, cylindrical follicles containing numerous, grooved seeds.
Catharanthus roseus prefers a sunny location.
