Carya ovata
Carya ovata is a stately tree native to southeastern North America. It grows up to 20 meters tall with a narrow, upright crown.
The flowers are small and unisexual. Male flowers are grouped in catkins, while female flowers are clustered in clusters at the tips of the shoots. They bloom in May.
The bark is original, ash-gray, peeling in older specimens in the form of upturned scales.
The fruit is round, up to 5 cm in diameter, the ripe shells are brown, and the nuts are edible and very tasty, ripening in autumn.
The leaves are odd-pinnate, green, elliptical, and glossy, turning golden-yellow in autumn.
Carya ovata has no special soil requirements. It prefers sunny or partly sunny locations. It is completely frost-hardy.
Each order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required.
The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.
Seed Handling Instructions:
First, stratify the seeds: soak them in water at 25-30°C for 3 days, then store them in moist sand at 0-5°C for 6 weeks. After removing them from the cold, sow the seeds in moist soil, covering them with a thin layer of sand.
SEEDS ARE INTENDED FOR SOWING ONLY!
