Elaeocarpus decipiens
Elaeocarpus decipiens is a popular evergreen tree or large shrub, valued for its ornamental value. It is native to East Asia.
It typically reaches 6 to 10 meters in height.
The evergreen, glossy, lanceolate leaves are approximately 5–10 cm long. Their most distinctive feature is that older leaves turn a vibrant red or orange before falling, creating a striking contrast with the younger greenery.
The flowers are small, white or cream, bell-shaped, and appear in spring.
The fruits are small, oblong, blue-black, and berry-like.
Elaeocarpus decipiens prefers well-drained, moist soil, but tolerates a variety of soil conditions.
It prefers a sunny or partly sunny location.
