Quercus palustris
Quercus palustris is a species of deciduous tree native to northeastern and central North America.
It reaches up to 20 meters in height.
The leaves are deeply lobed to a quarter of the leaf surface. A distinguishing feature, besides their shape, are the characteristic tufts of hairs at the junction of the main veins on the underside of the leaf. In autumn, they turn a deep red.
The flowers are small, greenish, and appear in June and July.
The fruits are acorns, which are small, hemispherical or slightly flattened, located in shallow cups and growing on short stalks.
Quercus palustris is tolerant, performing well in a variety of soils, including fertile, moderately moist, and dry, well-drained soils. It prefers a sunny or partly sunny location.
Each order is accompanied by a receipt or (upon request) an invoice, a delivery note compliant with WIORiN requirements, and a plant passport, if required.
The seeds we offer are of high quality and intended for both nurseries and amateurs.
Seed Handling Instructions:
It is best to sow directly into the ground in autumn to allow the seeds to undergo natural winter stratification. Spring sowing is also possible, after stratifying for approximately 1-3 months at 2-4°C.
After this process, plant the acorns in well-drained soil to a depth of approximately 2.5-5 cm.
Provide a sunny location and constant moisture, but avoid overwatering.
SEEDS ARE INTENDED FOR SOWING ONLY!
