Viburnum prunifolium

Viburnum prunifolium is a shrub native to North America. It grows to 3-5 meters in height.

White flowers, gathered in inflorescences up to 10 cm in diameter, bloom at the turn of May and June. The plant is melliferous.

Fruits are drupes, edible, very tasty, navy blue-black with a strong bloom, ripen at the turn of September and October. The fruit can be used to make marmalades, juices, jams or decoctions.

Green, elliptical leaves, regularly serrated up to 8 cm long, turn brownish-red in autumn.

Extracts from the bark, roots, flowers and fruits of Viburnum plumifolium have antispasmodic, soothing, anti-inflammatory and anti-exudative effects.

Viburnum prunifolium has no special soil requirements. Prefers sunny or semi-sunny locations. Resistant to frost and drought.
