Sorbus domestica

Sorbus domestica is a stately tree native to the Mediterranean region. It grows up to 15 meters tall.

The flowers are umbelliferous, white-pink, and begin blooming in May.

The pear-shaped, edible, yellow-red fruits ripen in autumn.

The plant’s fruits are suitable for preserves, jams, syrups, liqueurs, and as an addition to baked goods, imparting a wonderful, spicy aroma!

The leaves are broadly ovate, up to 10 cm long, oddly pinnate, and light green.

Sorbus domestica has no special soil requirements. It prefers sunny or partly sunny locations. It is completely frost-hardy.
