Sequoia sempervirens
Sequoia sempervirens
Sequoia sempervirens is the largest evergreen tree in the world, with a regular, conical, low-set crown, native to the coastal mountains of Oregon and California.
In our climate, it reaches approximately 9 meters in height.
Cones are spherical, brown, small, up to 3 cm long, and pendulous. Needles are flat, dark green, and slightly shiny, with two distinct whitish or gray stripes on the underside, soft to the touch, resembling yew needles.
The tree’s trunk is straight, covered with reddish-gray, fibrous, and spongy bark. Sequoia sempervirens grows best in moist soil.
It prefers a sunny location.
