Sambucus nigra is a large shrub, originating from Europe. In our climate conditions it reaches about 10 meters in height.
Fruits round berries, gathered in clusters, navy blue, ripen at the turn of September and October, suitable for preserves.
Flowers creamy white, gathered in corymbs, fragrant. It blooms at the turn of May and July. The plant is melliferous!
Leaves dark green, large up to 30 cm, ovate-elliptical, seasonal.
The plant has medicinal properties, including: detoxifies the body, has anti-inflammatory, diuretic, antipyretic effects. The fruit and flowers of the plant contain vitamins A, B and C and minerals magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium, iron, zinc.
Sambucus nigra has no soil requirements. It prefers sunny or semi-sunny locations. Resistant to frost.
