Psidium guajava
Psidium guajava
Psidium guajava is a species of plant from the myrtaceae family. It comes from the Caribbean, Central America and northern South America.
It reaches up to 8 meters in height.
The leaves are green, slightly bent, with clearly visible veins. They remain on the plant all year round. Guava leaves are also a herbal raw material.
The flowers are white and give off a pleasant smell, which is an additional advantage of this plant. They grow individually in the axils of the leaves.
The fruits are round or pear-shaped, and their length can be from 3 to 10 cm. As they ripen, they are first green, then yellowish, and finally red discolorations appear on them.
The flesh of the fruit can be white, yellow or pink. It gives off a characteristic musky smell. The fruit contains numerous, small and edible seeds.
