Prunus domestica subsp. syriaca

Prunus domestica subsp. syriaca is a shrub or small tree native to Asia, now found growing wild in many regions of the world, including Poland.

It reaches 3-6 meters in height.

It produces small, single, fragrant white flowers. It blooms in May.

The leaves are small, oval, and pointed. The plant’s young branches are pubescent.

The fruit, called mirabelle plums, is a small, spherical, sweet drupe, yellow or red in color.

Prunus domestica subsp. syriaca requires heavy, clayey soil, rich in nutrients, and moderately moist. It prefers a sunny or partly sunny location.

It is frost-hardy.
