Prosopis chilensis

Prosopis chilensis is a species of tree belonging to the legume family. It occurs in parts of central Chile, southern Peru, Bolivia and Andean Argentina.
It reaches up to 14 m in height.
The leaves are pinnate, with leaflets arranged in pairs. Oval, with a smooth margin and a yellowish-green upper surface.
The flowers are greenish-white or yellow, gathered in dense spikes.
Each individual flower has five sepals, five petals and ten stamens.
The fruits are twisted or rolled pods up to 15 cm long, containing several coffee-coloured seeds.
