Platanus acerifolia is a tree with a spreading crown originating from America. It grows to a height of 20-30 meters.
Flowers greenish-yellow or red, gathered in dense, spherical heads, it begins to bloom at the turn of April and May.
Fruits hairy nuts, gathered in spherical brown seed heads, ripen in October and remain on the tree until spring.
Leaves green, palmately lobate up to 25 cm wide, in autumn they change color.
A characteristic feature of the plant is the bark peeling off in colorful flakes.
Platanus acerifolia requires fresh, deep soils, preferably sandy loam. It prefers sunny or semi-sunny locations. Completely frost-resistant.
