Persea americana

Persea americana is a species of evergreen tree. It originally comes from southern Mexico, but it spread relatively quickly from North America – through Central – to South America. The properties of avocado make it considered one of the healthiest fruits in the world.

It reaches up to 24 meters in height

Leaves are leathery, lanceolate, entire, arranged on the shoot in a spiral or alternate manner.

Flowers are yellowish green, gathered in panicles at the tops of the shoots.

The fruit is pear-shaped, less often round or ovoid. Thick, green exocarp surrounds fatty, creamy-green flesh and an inedible seed.

Persea americana needs well-drained soil. It prefers sunny locations
