Oix lacryma-jobi is an annual grass native to southern Asia.

It grows to a height of 60 cm.

Leaves are sabre-like, breaking in half, hanging downwards.

In summer, the plants form hanging paniculate inflorescences composed of numerous small yellow flowers.

The fruit is a white or light yellow caryopsis without a seed coat, it is ovoid or elliptical.
