Myristica fragrans

Myristica fragrans is a tree from the nutmeg family, native to the Banda Islands.

It grows to a height of 10 m.

The dried kernels of the seeds of this plant are known as nutmeg.

The leaves are elongated, elliptical, leathery, entire, pointed at the end, arranged in a spiral pattern on the branches.

The flowers are gathered in small inflorescences, the female ones have a three-lobed corolla of white color, with an ovate pistil. The male ones have numerous stamens fused into a tube.
