Medicago sativa

Medicago sativa  is a perennial belonging to the legume family. Its native area is North Africa, a large part of Asia and almost all of Europe.
It reaches up to 90 cm in height.
Leaves compound, trifoliate, oblong, oval, serrated and pointed at the top.
Flowers purple, gathered in a racemose, capitate inflorescence composed of 5-30 flowers. Flowers 8-12 mm in size.
Fruit is a brown, twisted pod with small, light brown, oval seeds.
