Liquidambar styraciflua

Liquidambar styraciflua is an ornamental tree from North America. It grows to a height of 8-12 meters.

Green, palmate-lobed leaves up to 20 cm wide, shiny, in autumn they turn orange, yellow and red.

Yellowish-greenish flowers, gathered in clusters, dioecious, bloom in May.

Brown fruit, prickly balls, ripen in October, remaining on the tree also during the winter.

Liquidambar styraciflua requires permeable, fertile, humus soil. Prefers sunny, sheltered positions. Frost resistance up to -26 degrees.
