Hovenia acerba is a slow-growing tree native to East Asia. It reaches about 20 meters in height.

Ripe, brown, edible, sweet fruit.

The flowers are green-yellow, fragrant, gathered in loose panicles, blooming at the turn of May and July.

Green, shiny, ovate, large leaves.
