Elaeocarpus Ganitrus is a large evergreen deciduous tree that grows in the Himalayan region to Southeast Asia. It grows to a height of 40 meters. The plant has great significance in the Hindu religion. Leaves with wavy serrations on the edges, tapering to a petiole. Old leaves often become bright red before falling. The flowers are arranged in racemes up to 100 mm long, each flower is located on a pedicel. The five petals are creamy white, ovate or oblong, and the tip has linear lobes. There are 35 to 60 stamens. The fruit is a roughly spherical, light blue or purple drupe with a diameter of 15–23 mm.
