Diospyros melanoxylon

Diospyros melanoxylon is a medium-sized tree or shrub that can be deciduous in drier places and evergreen in moist places. The tree is cultivated in India and Bangladesh.

The leaves are thick, light green, with soft hairs. They have an unmatched taste, elastic and leathery texture.

The fruit is edible, olive green, ovoid. The yellow flesh is soft and sweet.
