Dendrocalamus strictus

Dendrocalamus strictus is commonly found in forests in South and Southeast Asia, especially in India, Nepal, Burma, Thailand.

It grows to a height of 16 m

Young shoots and leaves are edible, contain a lot of silicon.

Shoots are light blue, and over time they become green-gray.

Leaves are lanceolate, reaching up to 25 cm in length, rounded at the base, pointed at the end.

Flowers are white, gathered in large, dense and hairy panicles.
