Cydonia oblonga

 

 

Cydonia oblonga is a small tree or large shrub native to Asia Minor and Iran. In our climatic conditions, it reaches about 3 meters in height.

The plant has medicinal properties!
Decorative flowers, white, pale pink to pink, single, 5 cm in diameter. It blooms at the turn of May and June.
The apple-shaped, yellow, edible fruit ripens in October. They are suitable for preserves!

They include, among others: simple sugars, organic acids, tannins and vitamins A, C and B.

Quince leaves are dark green on top and grey-green underneath, heavily hairy. In autumn they turn yellow and orange.
Cydonia oblonga has no special soil requirements. It prefers sunny or semi-sunny positions, sheltered from the wind.
